JAZZAUX was one of only a few Swedish bands with a clear westcoast style in the early 80’s. The story of the band began in 1983 when brothers STAFFAN and ANDERS EDENROTH got in touch with THOMAS BERGQUIST at the Sollentuna Jazz Workshop.
For a while MARKUS WIKSTRÖM played bass, but he was replaced by THOMAS BERGQUIST at the same time that drummer ANDRÉ FERRARI became a member of the band.
The influences for the guys were for example TOTO, CHICAGO and KISS – well, the latter is not very audible in the JAZZAUX songs, though.
Songs were mainly written by Anders, even though all members contributed. As for places for rehearsals – the guys actually utilized various places of their parents… However, they had access to a real recording studio as well.
According to Staffan, it is hard to remember how long JAZZAUX lasted. He thinks, however, that the band went on until sometime in 1986. During the career they performed quite a number of live shows, for example at famous places like Fasching and Mosebacke in Stockholm. The band’s sole release was the splendid vinyl single “Follow me” that was released in 500 copies.
