As Tall as Lions is a band from Long Island, New York. The band was founded in early 2002 as members of a previous band, Sundaze, were looking for a fresh start. These members were Dan Nigro (vocals, guitar, piano), Saen Fitzgerald (guitar, drums), and Cliff Sarcona (drums). The band was seen as a unique entity inside of the indie scene, not necessarily fitting in creatively with the other emo bands, but never failing to win over the emo fans. This uniqueness was enough for ATAL to score a record deal with New York Citys Triple Crown Records.
The band relocated to the Midwest for the composition and recording of the first full-length album, which would eventually be called Lafcadio. The album was released in the Spring of 2004 and soon after good friend and multi-instrumentalist Julio Tavarez would join the band. After years of touring under their belts, ATAL returned to the studio to record their 2nd full length, As Tall As Lions. It was recorded with producer Steve Haigler and long time producer of ATAL, Mike Watts.
