Releasing his new album, "From the Top of Willamette Mountain" tomorrow, November 6th. Melodic.net favorite Joshua James is back. Check out what he had to say about the album and a few other things.

Hi Joshua and welcome back to Melodic.net. How are things?

Things are great man. Life is unreal.

Last time we spoke you were just about to release your second album. What have you been up to since then?

I have been living with my lady. Raising animals. Gardening. Singing from the top of the mountain. This and that.

Your new album, "From the Top of Willamette Mountain" is out November 6. How excited are you?

I am pretty excited. Life and music have braided themselves into my every day so much that i can't really seperate the two. The album, as it always seems to go, was recorded a year ago now and so there is an even newer batch of songs that i am getting ready to record. But so it goes.

What can you tell us about the upcoming album?

I am proud of it. It was done very live (like) Minimal recording techniques and done with a brilliant producer.

In what way, if any, would you say that you have developed as a singer and a songwriter over the time course of your three full-length albums?

i think it's inevitable to change as you go. I sing different, i move different, perform different. i connect with my songs differently. I am a different human than i was, so with that change comes change in everything. If you compare "From The Top of Willamette Mountain" to "The Sun Is Always Brighter" it sounds like a different guy almost. It's a strange thing.

Your previous albums have both ended up at the top my list of albums for each release year. But how do you handle bad reviews?

I don't really see many reviews, i think people only tell me about the good ones, so the bad ones go under my radar. I don't know if thats good or bad. It would be impossible to think that everyone is going to like mediterranean cuisine, but i love a mean falafel.

You have had your music featured on several shows, among them "Sons of Anarchy". How does that feel and do you have any particular input as to which shows that are allowed to use your songs?

I am always just excited that people would have my songs in their shows.

What is the biggest challenge you have to face as an artist today, in your opinion?

Trying to make people listen. Have people come to shows. Make a living without losing your mind.

What albums, other than your own, can you recommend people to get this year?

There have been too many to name, but a couple that i can't escape are Father John Misty's "Fear Fun",  and A.A. Bondy's "Believers". Really innovative and beautiful, the both.

I notice that you currently are on a European Tour, is this your first time over here?

It is definitely one of the greatest experiences i have had thus far in life. I am currently in London writing you all of this. I attended a great Yoga class this morning and it has helped my restless mind.

However, there are no dates in Sweden. How come?

I would drop my life to come to sweden, just haven't made it there yet. But soon i am hoping. SOON.

Thanks for answering the questions, good luck on the tour and with the new album. Any final words for our readers?

Make believe it all!

Did you know that?

Before forming Fightstar, singer Charlie Simpson was in a band called Busted, who were a British pop band consisting of James Bourne (rhythm guitar), Charlie Simpson (lead guitar and occasionally drums), and Matt Willis (bass). They sold over 1 million singles and 2 million albums in the UK, winning BRIT Awards, Record Of The Year and performing on several sellout arena tours.
