Geoff Byrd's new album out now

Back on his native soil and free of the record label, Geoff Byrd's gift for melody and writing lyrics is again front and center. Byrd ties all his musical influences together forming an entirely new sound on the soon to be released X-Ray Vision. Don't let the fact that X-Ray Vision is self released fool you. This is a major label sound with Byrd in complete artistic control. Byrd covers a staggering amount of creative ground in all 9 tracks rising to the occasion. His influences and experimental boldness are unavoidable in the production of this album that will indeed put Byrd back on the radar.
The enthusiastic national response to his debut album Candy Shell and label follow up, Shrinking Violets, resulted in cover stories in many music publications including R & R and Billboard, record sales and radio airplay. But mainstream stardom is no longer what Byrd craves. It is the artistic freedom that he believes so feverishly in and simply making a living doing what he loves. With his focus now on his music and not the business side, he emphasizes the energy and dynamism that his fans have come to expect from him. X-Ray Vision exudes a certain sense of freedom and celebration. Byrd is able to now take a more Zen approach to his music and pay homage to his Indie start.
The album also heralds Byrd's multi instrumental talents. In all but two songs, he played all instruments, sang all vocals and recorded everything in his home studio (Studio 4) armed only with MacBook Pro and an M-Box mini.
Since releasing his second album, Shrinking Violets, and going # 1 on the internet, Byrd has been busy touring the United States and Canada with Hall & Oates, performed on the same stages as Stevie Wonder, Seal, Jurassic 5, Welsh pop-star Jem and others. He is collaborating with Jed Leiber and John Oates on writing projects, 1,000 Miles of Life is on the 2009 Grammy ballot, he recently co-wrote and sang vocals on Jim Brickman's hit song When It Snows and has over 500 music placements in film and television with 4 television theme songs to his credit.
