Back in 2005, I did a review of Aussie band Early Warning System which I really enjoyed mostly because they reminded a lot of Kings X. And then the band vanished into thin air, was this really all I got to hear from this promising band? Well, no, the guitarplayer and singer Kevin Windross is back in business with a brand new 5 track EP called "Loud and clear" and it continues where EWS left off. There are still lots of traces of Kings X but I feel these new songs are filled with more traditional melodic rock like for example "I´ll be there", this one´s quite easy todig compared to "Soul keeper" that is more of a grower, however I really love the axework on that song. The opener "Empty house" is soulful and bring thoughts to Living Colour, very cool. The standard drops a bit on the last track "Take myself" but I do like the bluesy "Broken bridge" which will appeal to fans of Bad Company and Paul Rodgers. It´s a solid EP but I prefer EWS.
