Lower Than Atlantis went on the last album to a more arena rock oriented sound than the more punk-oriented predecessors. Think it had a lot to do that they had leave Island Records and then worked really hard in the studio for nearly a year to take the next step. And think it was the right way to go because I think that the 2014 album was very strong with its straightforward and uncomplicated sound not unlike the Foo Fighters, Blitz Kids and Don Broco.
This new album follows the same track and invites once again to amore radio friendly, but at the same time alternative style with some edge. What I like is also the somewhat rhythmic style that could make you think of Incubus, with some imagination.
When it comes to songs, Safe in Sound is about the same level as its predecessor. There are a number of tracks that stand as the great "I Would" with its grand chorus, the opening track "Had Enough" and "Long Time Coming", reminiscent of Young Guns. However, there are some tracks that are not in the same class and is thinking of "Boomerang" and "A Night to Forget" that is a bit too commercial and catchy for my taste. But overall, however, is clearly an accepted record that should make most of their fans happy!
