Review

Andrew McMahon is a great hero in the alternative pop genre with great releases from both Something Corporate and Jack's Mannequin. Although the precursor to this album, Andrew McMahon in the Wilderness was a great record, filled with clever pop in a slightly electronic packaging.
Zombies on Broadway follows the same path and is a very safe delivery that shows that Andrew probably can write great pop songs in his sleep. Do, however, think that this is a somewhat weaker album with a number of tracks that doesn’t really reach up to an expected level. Is thinking of "So Close," "Island Radio" and "Fire Escape" which are all a bit too simple and standard, to be Andrew McMahon. However, there is as always a bunch of amazing pop gems like in "Love and Great Buildings", "Walking in My Sleep" and "Dead Man's Dollar" where he shows the level that we normally gets.
So Zombies on Broadway is a somewhat uneven album, but you will find some great tracks as well so it’s worth checking out if you like intelligent and catchy piano-based pop, like his predecessor.

Did you know that?

"Sunday Bloody Sunday" originally started with the phrase "Don´t talk to me about the rights of the IRA" but was ultimately changed to "I can´t believe the news today" because U2 was afraid that their peace calling would be misunderstood.
