"Dark matters" is the first album in 5 years from Finnish rock band The Rasmus, it´s recorded in Stockholm, Sweden by the production team The Family.
I guess The Rasmus wanted to update their sound because The Family wrote the Eurovision Song Contest winning song Heroes, performed by Måns Zelmerlöv in 2015.
There are still traces of their signature northern melancholy in "Dark matters" but this time around, the new album is proof of a band that is caught in the mainstream because the guitars are so low in the mix that it´s hard to label them as a rock band.
"Dark matters" is a weak attempt from a band that desperately wants their songs to be played on radio, where pop is king nowadays.
The singles "Paradise" and "Wonderman" are ok but The Rasmus feels lost on the rest of the album where I´m only waiting for Zara Larsson to show up in a duet.
