Review

Hold your horses and get ready for a new music sensation from Riga, Latvia. Yes, Bloody Heels is a 4-piece band from Latvia and has just released their debut album Through Mystery. They been around since 2012 and released one EP Summer Nights in 2014. This album took me by surprise and it´s filled with stunning hardrock with tougher AOR influences. This album sounds like it could have been recorded back in the hey daze somewhere between 89-91. But, don´t think this sounds dated because this band sounds hungry and with a top-notch production, this is nothing but a marvellous album. Singer Vicky White has a great raspy and powerful voice very similar to Paul Sabu mixed with David Reece, just love it. So if your into bands suchs as Heaven´s Edge, Saints & Sinners, Banglore Choir, Ratt and Firehouse then this is a band for you.

The opener Danger Calling is a pure hardrocking gem with riff strong guitars and with a huge chorus with stunning background vocals and some Def Leppard harmonies. On Can´t Help Myself they flirt with Ratt and this is a great up-tempo rocker. Victim is another winner with great big hooklines and powerful harmonies, song that reminds very much of a heavier 80s Paul Sabu. If you remember the Canadian band Saints & Sinners and their only album then you will love th song Cheap Little Liar. Damn what a awesome song this is, filled with all the right trademarks for a 80s hardrock song. So powerful with hooklines all over it and crunchy guitars running through the song and the chorus is damn huge with, a real gem. They have done a video for this song aswell and it´s done with class (https://youtu.be/-hZsEfXNRzg), check it out. Bittersweet Memories has a great mix of guitars and keyboards with lovely melodies. The chorus is hard to get out of your head, just amazing. Love May Have Gone is a wonderful mid-tempo rocker with layers of melodies and the chorus is great. One More Time could have been on the first Bangalore Choir album, great rocker with strong hooklines. Well, what can I say? This could be one of this years biggest surprises and this is done with pure class and the sound is so crystal clear. They have done a major work on the production. Bloody Heels has done a album that don´t sound the same as many others do these days. So don´t hesitate to get hooked by this fantastic group.

Did you know that?

Fightstar´s first EP was heavily influenced by the author Chuck Palahniuk, with the band naming a song after him ("Palahniuk´s Laughter") and including a drawing of Edward Norton´s character in the film adaptation of the Palahniuk book Fight Club.
