Steelheart, fronted by voice chameleon & Miljenko Matijevic is finally back with a new album entitled Through Worlds Of Stardust.
It has been 9 long years since they released their last album Good 2B Alive.
On that album we heard a re-invented sound for the band.
To be honest i have to say it was worth the wait!
This album starts of with the same vibe as on Good 2B Alive.
The good thing is frontman and leadsinger Miljenko Matijevic is a master in blending both sounds from past and present together on this release.
Through Worlds Of Stardust has got all the tasteful flavours from the classic albums all the way to the new era.
“Stream Line Savings” kicks of with a high pitch scream Miljenko is so well known for.
This song has a lot of shifts in rythm and is a true modern version of Led Zeppelin.
A powerfull opener.
“My Dirty Girl”, continues with power, a driving riff intro leads into a cathy rocker with here and there some nice calm soulfull parts as well. And off course the yells are there!
The following song “Come Inside” continues on the same riff level and has some nice original rythms as well.
After the fresh powerful opening of this album it is time to get into a more relaxed state of mind with some calmer songs.
Vocally i love “My Word” it shows the immense vocal abillities Miljenko still has.
A perfect crafted typical Steelheart song.
One of the highlights on this album for shure!
The single “You Got Me Twisted” is a nice powerful ballad and musically could have been on one of the old classic Steelheart albums musically.
Raise your mobile-, or cigarette lights because here it is: the beautiful laid back piano sound of “Lips of Rain”.
An outstanding ballad which just like the previous song is classic Steelheart.
Another huge highlight.
Just listen to the sensitive vocals on the last verse.., magic.
“With Love We Live Again” a fantastic laid back acoustic song complemented including beautiful violin arrangements.
Very well composed and perfectly executed.
A slightly more powerful song is “Got Me Running”.
Great guitarwork, vocals and background vocals.
The chorus is incredibly catchy.
“My Freedom”, has some parts that are a bit alike “You Got Me Twisted”.
But it still stands on it's own.
The fantastic scream (2:15) followed by a perfect shift in tempo at (2:30) grabs you and takes you towards the end of the song.
Throught Worlds Of Stardust end with the emotional love ballad “I'm So In love With You”.
Sweet like candy and soft as silk.
It is sung with such feel, like a feather carried by the wind, which only Miljenko is capable of.
Sadly it is such a short song.
So how to verdict an album which has so much perfection.
The power in the first songs which i would describe as a 21st century take on 70's influences, shifting to more classic Steelheart laid back songs.
The still very diverse vocals which shift from high, emotional and polished to raw and powerful.
The musicians in the band are like their frontman, tight as a rope around your neck.
I was hoping that Miljenko's solo song "My Love Is Gone" was also included but sadly it isn't
This album will probably do very well and will end up in many year's toplists for shure within the hardrock scene.
If not, something is terribly wrong with those that review this album elsewhere.
It deserves to be there!
