Review

Dashboard Confessional´s 7th studio album "Crooked Shadows" is the first album since the 2009 album "After The Ending". I was surprised to see that it´s only 29 minutes long which is rather amusing since most albums these days are often filled with 60-70 minutes of music.
Bandleader Chris Carrabba hasn´t been lazy during this time, in 2011 he released a solo covers album and also reunited with his former band Further Seems Forever and made the comeback album Penny Black in 2012.
The new album marks a new line-up behind Carrabba, he´s joined by long time member Scott Schoenbeck on bass plus the new members, Chris Kamrada on drums and Armon Jay on guitar who both make their album debut with "Crooked shadows".
Dashboard Confessional in 2018 comes with a new sound too, gone is the emo-oriented rock and this time around the music is a blend of electro pop, new wave and indie rock.
You could say they sound a bit like The Cure meets Kings of Leon on "Crooked Shadows", but there are songs that bring thoughts to the band´s early albums like the single "We fight". However, we can always count on Chris Carrabba delivering the goods. I simply love this album.
