Review

According to the bio this British act are influenced by the likes of TOO, JOURNEY and WORK OF ART. Well, nothing could be far from the truth. However, don’t think that means they are less interesting…

The melodic hard rock tradition of the British Isles is huge and ATLAS proves that there is great hope for maintaining it. These guys are good at creating a cool sound, with nice details making the listening interesting. Take the verse in “In the frame” for example, reminding of the heavier stuff from SHY or US band AUTOGRAPH.

Parts of the album also reminds me of Swedish band MISS BEHAVIOUR, especially considering the bombastic sound and “attack” that is heard. So the production is a bit modern, rather than influenced by the good old times.

The Cd has got a few “fillers”. The song “Lock and key” is one of them and it’s a fairly ordinary tune. Furthermore, vocalist CRAIG WELLS needs to be more careful with his vocal recordings, because there are some false notes. All in all a solid 3 in grading, but there is plenty of room for improvement if there will be more albums. My main impression is: very promising.
