Review

One by one, former rockbands like Thirty Seconds To Mars, Linkin Park, Carpark North and many others are looking at the charts and notice that pop is outselling rock more than ever so why not hop on the poptrain to mainstreamville and see what happens. Even Smash Into Pieces thinks it´s a great idea and let their pop-influences go full circle on their 4th album "Evolver".

They already flirted with pop on the previous record "Rise and shine" but it was still more of a modern rock affair compared to the new album, the guitars are low in the mix and the band aren´t afraid to use autotune (the worst invention since the atomic bomb) and even invite rapper Moncho on one of the tracks. There are songs on "Evolver" that sounds like something penned by Avicii and I won´t be surprised if this album will do really well but as a fan of their rockoriented stuff, I only feel disappointed.
