After two solo albums, Ed Kowalszyk is back fronting the rock band Live and believe it or not, but the new EP "Local 717" is the first release with Kowalszyk since "Songs From Black Mountain" from 2006. I am happy to hear his original voice once again where he belongs, maybe it´s too much to ask to get a new "Dolphin´s Cry" or an epic rocker like "Lakini´s Juice".
I was hoping for something extraordinary along these five new tracks but Kowalszyk and Co don´t really reach the heights of their classic 90´s albums "Throwing Copper" or "The Distance To Here". Don´t misunderstand me, the EP is good and I´m glad that they haven´t forgotten how to rock. The Led Zep-ish "Venus in furs" is the best track on the EP and with a few more songs in that calibre, I would´ve given it one more star.
