Review

Although being a rather unknown album, this CD by GLASS is actually at Spotify, surprisingly enough. GLASS was a duo consisting of HENNING AXELSSON and ROBERT SÄLL (known from WORK OF ART and W.E.T.!).

It is a rather mellow CD with some vibes of 10CC, DOOBIE BROTHERS (mainly the cool harmony vocals) and even STEELY DAN. Try “Extreme makeover” for example! Really cool stuff, and GLASS has captured a lot of the sound from the 70’s as well. There is a semi-acoustic feeling in most songs, still with a quite rich sound. If you like SUPERTRAMP’s late 70’s albums you’ll feel at home too. Try “The things  we never say” and you’ll find a cool arrangement that will be loved by westcoast fans.

In “Tongue stuck on ice” there’s a vibe of the softest songs that KEVIN GILBERT did as a solo artist. Any fans of later MICHAEL RUFF material out there? “Human lies” has got some of his softness but still with a clear beat. A real goodie!

Occasionally it gets slightly latin flavoured, for example in “Regrets” which kind of falls outside of my comfort frame a bit – but still quality stuff. A rare item well worth having, and close to a 4 in grading. (Swedish Diamonds series, #29)
