Review

One of the first seven inch singles I bought when I started collecting rare Swedish AOR/melodic records was MARC QUEE’s “Till Heaven call our names/Queen of the night”, released in 1990. Soon I realized there was also another single from 1989 with “Queen of the night” on both sides.

Time passed and by chance via searches at Discogs I suddenly found out that there was a full-length album out in 2017! I really like it when oldsters like Marc keeps the dream alive and continues (or re-captures) waving the melodic banner.

Ten songs are included on the CD and one of them is, of course, “Queen of the night”. For some reason “Till Heaven call our names” is not included.

What we are looking at here is AOR and melodic hard rock quite close to early TREAT. “Shadows in the night” is actually an excellent song, with dut-dut keyboards and good backing vocals. Also check out the nice ballad “Loving you”.

Marc has lost some of the brilliance in his voice over the years, and the production sounds a bit too much like a demo. But otherwise a decent album for nostalgic Scandi-AOR:sters. (Leyenda Records, (LYR B 049 CD, 2017).
