Review

Here is something for those of you who think most new music is lame or mainstream and you feel like you need something way outside of the box. DIZZY MYSTICS are from Winnipeg, Canada, and they deliver weird rock and hard rock served with such class that I can’t resist them.

The biography talks about similarities with FRANK ZAPPA, YES, PRIMUS and PINK FLOYD (among others). I totally agree on the Zappa and Yes ingredients as well as Primus, whereas I personally wouldn’t say I can hear any traces of Pink Floyd.

Most of the material on this album is rather uptempo, or at least intense. Odd arrangements and rather jazzy melodies at times, and played quite fast too. But the band is so professional! It is such a tight rhythm section that a lot of fans from various music categories need to check this up. One of few “softer” moments is the song “The scythe pendulum swing” which has a groovy rhythm and a slight soul and funk vibe – added by nice YES sounding harmony vocals.

“Jaunter” is another of my fave tracks, once again with awesome harmony vocals. There is a piece sounding a bit like a more twisted WORLD TRADE – although more rock based, of course. Get this!
