Ah, the cool band INNUENDO is back. This is a band that manages to deliver pop/rock with a driving force and at times some lightweight hard rock spices, into something rather unique! Also occasional AOR vibes to be found. This is, as the title may suggest, their 8th album since from this band that has been around since 1994.
They also have a very interesting lead vocalist, PAT LAFERTY, who reminds me of JASON SCHEFF (ex-CHICAGO) here and there. Even the harmony vocals sometimes sound a bit like those of CHICAGO when Scheff was in the band. “Hard to remember” is a fine example.
The other two members of this trio are TOM CARR on drums and BRETT RICHEY handling guitar, keyboards and bass. A fresh thing is that they dare to get the guitar rocking, which adds punch to the songs even in the more pop tinged moments. One of my fave tracks is “Coffee & cigarettes” with some soul & r’n’b vibes.
All the way from the nice opener “Back home” to the ending “Goodnight” there is plenty of goodies to be found. Sometimes I think of HUMAN RADIO. “Unglued” is an interesting song, since it has several moods. Almost light hard rock in the verse but more melodic in the chorus, with nice harmony vocals.
These guys know what they are doing. A warm and summer:ish recommendation.
