Review

Texas born FARIS NOURALLAH has been around for a while, as a solo artist and originally as the duo NOURALLAH BROTHERS with his brother SALEM. This “Minus one” album is mainly a rather mellow collection of songs, although with lots of variation anyway.

I hear vibes of soft DAVID BOWIE at times – partly due to the voice of Faris, but also in the songs. Slightly quirky pop with a melancholic touch, but nice melodies. One example of this is “I’ll run away” but there are other songs in the same vein.

“Inside out” feels like a downscaled ROLLING STONES song in a more poppy mode. There are also some instrumental pieces to mix it up. The production could be better, since it really sounds very demo:ish. This goes for the arrangements too, where Faris could’ve put more energy and effort. Otherwise, a nice album that is easy to check up on digital platforms. Apparently released on vinyl too, which is cool.
