Review

After being a cover band for a long time, Swedish band MANNISH BOY started to write original songs in melodic rock and lightweight hard rock mode. This is their 9-track debut album “Last ticket to… Rock’n’roll land”.

It is quite clear that these four guys are influenced by the 70’s rock scene. While listening I think of everything from THE ROLLING STONES via early CHEAP TRICK to FREE.

“One of these days” takes us close  to early DIRE STRAITS, for example. Nice stuff!

The lead voices of ERIK SJÖGREN and ANDERS EKBLAD are slightly scarred, but work fine for this kind of melodic rock. Other fave tracks of mine are “Beat of the drum”, the tempo filled “Rock’n’roll land” and “Berlin nights” – the latter with a touch of THIN LIZZY. This is absolutely a more than promising debut.
