Review

Swedish band ROCKETT LOVE took me by surprise with the debut album in 2017. Smashing kind of hard rock with an AOR thinking (without being AOR!) and a fresh sound plus really good songs. Here they are now with the second album “Greetings from Rocketland”, and what can we expect?

Oh, no need to worry here. Right away in the first track “Back on my feet” you can be sure that these guys have continued their winning concept. I think of bands like SAINTS & SINNERS, mid-era HAREM SCAREM and HARDLINE. And if you like for example SIC VICKI and T-RIDE, this will be your cup of melodic sugar.

I get happy by the heavy and yet melodic guitar sounds, and the first two songs “Back on my feet” and “Bite the bullet” really wake you up with uptempo and all.

This band has lots of qualities. Vocalist DANIEL SAMUELSSON is perfect for the job; a rather clean voice with bite. The heaviness in the songs in combination with truly good melodies make them so hard to resist. Take “Writing on the wall” as a fine example.

The line-up for the band on this great album is: DANIEL SAMUELSSON (lead vocals, guitar, keyboards, backing vocals), STEFAN WESTERLUND (guitar), DENNIS VESTMAN (bass), FREDRIK AHLIN (drums) and GUSTAF EKLUND (lead guitar). Mixed by none other than ERIK MÅRTENSSON (ECLIPSE, WET). And it’s released on vinyl as well! A sure buy.
