Review

Time for some melodic hard rock bordering on melodic metal! Swedish band PRIME CREATION may be totally new, but the members are known from previous bands – and they have released one album before (s/t, 2016 on Silent Wall/Rambo Music).

The line-up here is ESA ENGLUND (lead vocals; $ILVERDOLLAR, HELLSHAKER), ROBIN ARNELL (lead guitar; ex-MORIFADE), HENRIK WEIMEDAL (bass; ex-MORIFADE), KIM ARNELL (drums; ex-MORIFADE) and RAMI TAINAMO (rhythm guitars).

I said melodic hard rock and some melodic metal – I should add that there are some vibes of progressive metal as well, like in “Pretend till the end” which is a bit slower than most songs here. The guitars have a rough sound that is almost doom like. Quality stuff! A bit of the heavier side of ROYAL HUNT can be heard in “Before the rain”, with double bass drums and all. Well, the slightly rough-edged lead vocal of Esa’s is not similar to any of the vocalists in Royal Hunt, just to be clear about that. But he’s good in his own league.

This album is well worth checking up if you’re into melodic metal and hard rock. Close to a four in grading.
