Review

"Badly Dreaming" is the title of the first and only album released by Finnish artist Annica Viclund. For the time being, it was only released on vinyl but was released on CD later. But it was only available for a short time and in very limited quantity. Now MTM Classix has picked it up and re-released it fully digitally remastered and with 5 bonus-tracks (more about them later on this review).

Annica delivers late 80s AOR with a tougher touch in the veins of Witness, Laos, Lee Aaron and Lita Ford (Dangerous Curves). She has a strong and husky voice.
The songs are filled with great melodies and mixed with lovely keyboards and guitarriffs that will please lovers of female fronted AOR for sure.

The opening track "So Devine" sets the standard for this record with typical 80s keyboards and hooklines. If you?re into Laos and Witness kind of music then you will dig this one.
Next up is "Dreaming", this is a brilliant rocker with fluffy keyboards and great guitarriffs with awesome hooklines.
"Badly" is a rockballad with great melodies and Annica?s husky voice suits this one perfect. Thumbs up.
One song that reminds of 80s typical AOR-soundtracks is the straight ahead AOR-rocker "Loose Me". The chorus has awesome riffs and the keyboard lines are awesome. Another winner is the awesome "Black Waves" that has a strong chorus and is lifted up by some brilliant keyboards. This is a song where she sounds a lot like Lita Ford at her best.

"No Hearts" rocks nicely and has a memorable chorus with fluffy keyboards and reminds a lot about Laos.
Last song on the album is a pianoballad that we have heard thousand times before but still is a nice one.
The bonustracks are taken off the very rare album by Annica?s latest band Pink Flamingo. Those songs has nothing to do with AOR. They are more straight ahead rock songs with a bluesy touch a?la Alannah Myles but miles away from being good. The songs are plain and boring that I think they could have been left out from this release.
If you?re into female fronted AOR then here is a chance to own a copy of this mega-rare Annica album , so don?t miss it.
If this is a classix album?? Well I leave that to you to decide.
"Badly Dreaming" is only distributed on www.musicbuymail.com so go there and get yourself a copy of this or you may be dreaming badly.
