Former frontman of White Lion and Freak Of Nature, Mr.Mike Tramp is back with a new soloalbum. This is not an album with new written songs because ?Songs I Left Behind? is a collection of songs that never ended up on the other albums he has released in the past. Ranging back from 1992 to 2002 - these songs are not any worse than the ones on his previous albums, I would say that many of the tracks on ?Songs I Left Behind? are his strongest tracks since the glory days with White Lion.
There?s lots of White Lion in his sound and his very unique voice makes many of the songs like a light version of White Lion. This is a great melodic rock album with 16 songs and a great mixture of rockers, midtempo songs and ballads. I have not been a bigger fan of his earlier works but this new one really is a pleasant surprise with many high class rock songs and even some modern rock influences.
The acoustic ballad ?Love Won?t Wait On Me? is a lovely song with great melodies and sounds like White Lion (unplugged) meeting Bon Jovi. Straight ahead rockers like ?Sometimes? and ?Do It While You Can? are prime time rockers that are worth mentioning. Another song that shouts out White Lion is ?Show Me? featuring tough guitarriffs. There are lots of influences on the album from White Lion, Bon Jovi to more poppier touches from R.E.M and U2. So you get an album with good variation and this is a MUST for Mike Tramp fans - even melodic rock freaks should check out this very good album. Steve Lukather is playing guitar on this album as well. There will also be a brand new album in 2005 from Mike Tramp but while you wait for that one, get a copy of this great album.
