Review

Kino is a new superband featuring John Beck-Keyboards,Vocals (It Bites),John Mitchell-Lead Vocals,Guitar (Arena,John Wetton),Pete Trewavas-Bass (Marillion) and Chris Maitland-Drums (ex.Porcupine Tree).
Not like many other progrock projects around that sounds a bit shattered in styles and songwriting,Kino really do sound like a real band even if you can find traces from each band they are members of.
This is more or less a progressive pop record but with a certain guitar dominated sound so it never gets too soft if you get the drift, the lead vocals from John Mitchell is surprisingly good and together with some lovely harmony vocals from John Beck - my mind goes directly to It Bites vocalwise.
Speaking of It Bites, all fans of this band should see Kino live coz Bob Dalton, John Beck?s long-time It Bites bandmate, will be the drummer for their upcoming guest dates on the Spock?s Beard European tour, due to Chris Maitland?s prior commitments elsewhere.
Kino has what I am looking for in a progrock album - melodies, melodies and more melodies.......thank you,THANK YOU!

It?s quiet mellow and tender, and has some beautiful melody structures, the quality of sound could be better though.
