Tool are back, one of the most influential bands in the genre of alternative metal - they have a dark and progressive sound which have been very successful trademark for the band coz their previous album "Lateralus" sold more than 2 million copies. It has taken the band 5 years to come up with a new album and it?s worth the wait for any Tool fan,the 7 minute long single "Vicarious" shows where the band stands in 2006 with a depth that takes the listener down an unexplored abyss in the world of mystic metal. Only 3 songs are shorter than 6 minutes on "10,000 days" making the album a bit difficult to get into with the first 2-3 spins, frontman Maynard James Keenan and co pretty much does what they want to when they write songs coz they have found a winning formula that the fans love. But I think it can be a little too much of the mysterious sci-fi factor in their songs, when the psychedelic side takes over - even a fan like myself of 70?s progmusic with bands like Pink Floyd,King Crimson and Rush thinks Tool goes for the overkill one too many times. Their fans will be pleased and this is a good cd but if you ask me,there are bands out there that does this better!
You're a fucking retarded shallow minded individual if you think other bands do "this" better than Tool. Tool carved a path for others to follow in for the new generation, and if you would sit and figure out what their songs mean (most have multiple meanings and allow for individual interpretation) then you would soon realize what you're listening too isn't a singer, it's a band. It's so rare these days to find a group of people who can all play and express themselves in the way Tool does. I'm displeased that the reviewer even dared marking this album down because they didn't have the attention span to listen to longer more complex songs.
10,000 Days is an amazing follow up to Lateralus, and can arguably rival as one of the top albums of it's decade.
Everybody?s entitled to their own opinion and you might think Tool are best at this type of metal but I like bands such as Cog, The Butterfly Effect and Karnivool more.
I agree with Erik! Who the f**k does this better than Tool?!?!?!
can you or someone please tell me the bands that you think does this better?
cus I don?t know of any other band that sounds like this...
