Review

On her fourth album in seven years Melissa Gibson is now back with a new written album after the cover-album she did last year called "Under The Influence"

You can read at her MYSPACE site what she thinks influenced her and the names are: Influences Rosanne Cash, Mary Chapin Carpenter, Indigo Girls, Joni Mitchell, Carole King, Carly Simon, Tracy Chapman, Marc Cohn, John Denver, John Gorka, Cheryl Wheeler, Bruce Hornsby, John Hiatt, James Taylor. And at the site she writes what she sounds like and she mentions names like
Mary Chapin Carpenter, Kathy Mattea, Anne Murray, Karen Carpenter.

And I couldn´t agree more with her. Melissa is a talented singer songwriter in the same school and if you like this sort of girls with their own stories you should definitely check her out.

On the album she delivers 12 songs with a few up and downs. Track number six "On The Rise" could have been a Tracy Chapman song and it is a very nice one, and "Raining in LA", "How The Falcons Flies" and the last one out "What They Meant" with an Irish touch are three others, and all with very beautiful poetic lyrics.

Beautiful album.
