Review

"Sweet nothing" is Matthew Barber?s major label debut but it?s hardly his first album coz he released the independent album "Means and ends" (2002) before this one and the Warner EP "The story of your life" in 2004.
Matthew sounds a bit like Tom Petty when he sings and even the music reminds a bit of Petty, there are also traces of Neil Young and Bruce Springsteen in his songs.
This is more of a rocking powerpop album with a few slow songs but the quality is consistent and Barber?s fragile voice suits the songs just perfect.
A must for Tom Petty fans!
