Review

Here we have a new melodic hardrock sensation from France. Yes, these rockers have send me a 5-track promo demo album that really took me by surprise. They released their debut album back in 2003, but I have not heard that one so I can´t say much about it. Shannon delivers melodic hardrock in the same vein as Fair Warning, Shakra, Treat and Pink Cream 69. Yes, they are as good as the just mentioned bands and this 5-track album rocks big time. The sound is huge with plenty of melodies and hooks. They have managed to create a fantastic mixute of riffantastic guitars and melodic pompish keyboards. The singer Oliver Del Valle has a strong and powerful voice that reminds of Tommy Heart (Fair Warning) and Larry Baud(Red Dawn) and he sang on an album with another France band named Jannylee who released a great pompish mini-album(can be hard to find but if you do buy it). 4 out of these 5 tracks are pure class with a strong production. Just listen to the brilliant "Hungry For Love" that reminds of Red Dawn meets Rox Diamond with a strong AORish chorus that stays in your head and listen to the fantastic keyboard and guitarsolo. "Long Gone" and "Keep On Rolling" are two melodic hardrock songs that reminds me so much of Fair Warning meets Treat. "Long Gone" is filled with hooklines and a huge chorus with powerful background vocals. Catchy stuff! "Keep On Rolling" is a strong melodic affair with a lovely keyboardsound and a powerful chorus. I have nothing more to say about this great band and it´s gonna be interesting to see which label that will give out their album and if the rest of their material sounds this good, how damn good will their album be? If this sounds good to your ears, check out their myspacepage at www.myspace.com/shannonbandrock.
