Review

The Wrong Side of Heaven and the Righteous Side of Hell, Volume 2 is the fifth studio album by American heavy metal band Five Finger Death Punch and the second of two albums released by the band in 2013, with Volume 1 having been released on July 30.

As the band pointed out, two volumes are similar in quality, as packing just one of them with hits and the other one with leftovers definitely wasn't the approach they looked for. "We had this massive amount of music that's very dear to us, possibly the best material this band has ever created," guitarist Zoltan Bathory explained. "At that point there was no way to decide which songs to leave off the album. So we made the decision to release them all."

And I must agree, I am really pleased with these two albums and in my opinion 5FDP have been at the top of their game since the very beginning and I think that this new album once again proves that 5FDP are setting their sights on becoming one of the biggest bands in the world.

While Volume 1 was more melodic I think that Volume 2 is much more faster and aggressive, just listen to songs like the great opening track “Here to Die” and “Wrecking Ball” (the title is thankfully the only similiarity with the Miley Cyrus song....), “Weight Beneath My Sin”, “Cradle to the Grave” and “Matter of Time” and you will see what I mean. And of course there is room for some slower songs like the beautiful "Battle Born", the instrumental "The Agony of Regret" with acoustic and western sounding guitar, the emotional "My Heart Lied" and the amazing and powerfull ballad "Cold" that truly shows the stunning vocal performance of Ivan Moody and that is one thing that I think makes 5FDP unique and sets them apart from a lot of other metal bands these days.

The album ends with a cover song and this time it’s the classic “House of the Rising Sun”, which is a traditional folk song made famous by The Animals in 1964.
5FDP adds their own cool flavor to this song and changes the lyrics to fit the theme of the album and I think they do it different and very, very good and this is one of many highlights on the album!
Overall I must say that 5FDP has done it once again, their songs are great and heavy but still melodic, filled with killer riffs, cool bass and tight drums, Ivan sings as always amazing and the production is great and they still manage to retain the sound, the quality and the feeling that makes them so special and great.

So the bottom line is that if you love 5FDP and liked "The Wrong Side of Heaven and the Righteous Side of Hell, Volume 1," Im sure that you’ll like "The Wrong Side of Heaven and the Righteous Side of Hell Volume 2".
By the way, the deluxe edition of ‘The Wrong Side of Heaven and the Righteous Side of Hell: Volume 2′ also includes a live DVD, featuring 15 songs and it is absolutely worth checking out!

So my advice to you is to go get the album right now, if you love 5FDP then you wont be dissapointed and if you still havent found this band then this is a good album to start with!
