Disturbed to me is a quality. Ever since the album The Sickening I have been hooked on their tunes. Their previous effort, Ten Thousand Fists, was a very good album with hits like Just Stop and Land of Confusion. Now they return with an album filled with hard hitting, super heavy riffs. If you are a fan of what they have done before I’m quite sure you will appreciate this. It continues in the style of previous records although I tend to hear a little bit heavier approach than on Ten Thousand Fists.
Indestructible starts off with the title track, a hard rocking song with a killer riff and the trademark singing from David Draiman. This song reminds me a little bit of Speak by Godsmack. Following the opener is the first single, Inside the Fire. This track is a good up-tempo track that is growing on me. After hearing this song a lot on the radio I really like it! The tracks that follow are classic Disturbed with both up-tempo tracks and some slower but really heavy tracks. Some favorites are The Night with a great guitar solo, Perfect Insanity and Haunted with some almost Metallica vibes in the intro. Some of the songs sound a bit like each other and the album feels quite long although it contains 12 songs (the standard version). Listen to the intros of Divide and Façade and tell me if you can hear a difference!
Still, I can’t help but being impressed by the amount of cool and heavy guitar riffs that is on this album. Dan Donegan really shines here! Overall it is a great effort that is heavier and darker than their last albums. This sound really fits them perfectly and I think they are moving in the right direction when they are moving away from the Nu-metal on their first records. They are now in the land of Godsmack, Alice in Chains and similar bands. If you like those bands, you will like this album. A safe buy from guys that always deliver!
