Saw Lower Than Atlantis open for Young Guns for a couple of years ago. They certainly delivered an energy filled show filled with punk rock and some post-hardcore elements. But can’t say that I was that particularly impressed as they felt like many other bands in the genre. So it was a very pleasantly surprised when I listened to this new record that sonically is very different than the previous ones. The punk pop has been replaced with alternative rock, not that far from other British bands like Mallory Knox, Don Broco and Blitz Kids. Obviously this is very positive if you like me prefer this kind of straightforward and melodic rock, more focused on melodies than attitude. However, can imagine that some of their early fans are somewhat disappointed as this is a commercial album with clear potential to be play on the radio. Tracks to check up is "English Kids in America", "Here We Go" and "Criminal", but there are more strong tracks on this nice record.
