Adam Cohen had to pass 40 before he got the break he deserved. His third solo album Like a Man was namely Juno nominated in 2013 for Best Adult Contemporary Album of the Year. Although he did not win, I think he felt that it was a great relief to finally get some recognition.
It was no coincidence that the album did well as I think it is a very nice and atmospheric album. He also found a unique style here with his melancholy and sensible pop that has some similarities with his famous father.
This new album, We Go Home follows the same track as its precursor with extremely well written pop with a lot of thoughtfulness. As Like a Man is not an album that you got into directly as you have to give it several listens. Not that it's difficult to listen to, but more that the great stories must have some time to find their places. Tracks like "Too Real" and "Put Your Bag Down" is really, really good pop that made for the fall with all its guises. Even "Uniform" which also is on the second Low Millions album is a pop gem that should not be missed here.
If Adam gets another nomination for this one would come as a surprise to me. We Go Home is just as good as Like a Man, and it is an album I will come back to many times for sure.
