Review

Here we have a live album from the man that has sang on hundreds of album such as Talisman, Eyes, Soul Sirkus, Yngwie Malmsteen and Axel Rudi Pell to mention couple. He was also the singer for Journey for a short period of time. I had the opportunity to see Jeff live at last years Firefest and I was disappointed by his set-list and so is the case with this live album. This man can sing and choose fantastic songs from his career but he wants to do rocky funk and soul most of the time, it’s a shame. Like his last solo album Beautiful Mess. He sounds best when he delivers hardrock/AOR song and sure he delivers songs like Colour My Xtc (Talisman), Eyes Of Love (from his best solo album Prism) and of course the brilliant Talisman sing-a-long rocker I’ll Be Waiting. So far so good but when all the funky stuff on this album it just gets boring and do we need to hear the band jam more than one time? Stand Up from the Rock Star soundtrack rocks pretty good but the highlights are way to few to lift up this album. Jeff is a first class singer and it would not have hurt if he had put in couple of surprises. This comes as a DVD aswell and if you’re a big fan of Jeff Scott Soto and are into his latest album then this is worth to check out otherwise you can skip this.
