You could say that this 3 cd live set is the definite collection of this prog-veterans impressive career. There are songs from all the bands Neal played in on this collection. Songs from Transatlantic, Spock’s Beard and of course his own soloalbums. There are four medleys at over 30 minutes each, that are albummedleys and also great songs like “Leviathan”, “Author of confusion/I’m the guy” and “Walking on the wind” aren’t missing. The live-band is not the usual band that you would expect with Neal Morse. He has worked with great names like Mike Portnoy (Dream Theater), Kerry Livgren, Phil Keaggy and Steve Hackett and you would expect them to be on this record too, but that’s not the case. The thing is, a fellow countryman of mine called Collin Leijenaar send an e-mail to Neal Morse for his upcoming Europe tour and asked him if he and his group of friends could be the band that Neal was going to do the tour with. Collin told him that he and his friends were huge fans of Neal’s work and promised that they would not only be able to play the material, but that they would “own” it. Neal took the chance and the result you can experience by listening to these 3 cd’s. Tight musicianship and great backingvocals is what these Dutch musicians serve us. The total band was: Neal Morse: vocals, keyboards & guitars/ Elisa Krijgsman: guitars & vocals/ Henk Doest: keyboards/ Wilco van Esschoten:bass guitar & vocals/ Jessica Koomen: vocals, keyboards & percussion and Collin Leijenaar:drums& vocals. This album is a rollercoasterride and a worthy “best of” album, that all proglovers should have in there collection. Bravo!
