Review

It’s been 18 years since we saw a studio album from Swedish Treat. It was the self titled album from 1992 with Mats Leven on vocals that many thought was the last studio album we would see or hear from Treat. But the guys got back together in 2006 and felt the hunger again and released the best of album Weapons Of Choice with 2 new songs. So now 2010 they are back with their 6th album Coup de Grace and it’s a awesome album filled with big guitars that never has sounded this big, huge catchy choruses and stunning melodies. This is a fantastic album filled with classic Treat trademarks and Anders Wikstrom and Patrick Appelgren has done a terrific production work. I’m stunned how damn good and powerful this album sounds. After the Intro Prelude Coup de Grace the deliver the first bomb The War Is Over, this is a fantastic hookladen rocker with great riffs and a brilliant chorus. The Treat journey just continues after that and they deliver winner after a winner. Paper Tiger contains awesome keyboards with huge hooklines and the chorus is outstanding. Roar is a nothing but a sensational rocker with a catchy chorus in the best Treat style, love this song. The ballad A Life To Die For is a typical Treat ballad but a damn good one with powerful background vocals in the chorus. The party rocker Tangled Up is filled with fantastic guitars and a chorus that reminds of Crazy Lixx. Skies Of Mongolia is something extra because this is a absolutely stunning rocker with pompish keyboards, crunchy guitars and the chorus is pure magic. One of this years best songs for sure that won’t leave your head when you hear it, classic is the word. The Poodles sounding I’m Not Runnin´ is nothing but superb with a catchy chorus. We Own The Night is AOR-heaven for sure with Def Leppard choirs in the chorus. All For Love sounds like H.E.A.T and is a AOR by numbers and the chorus is huge. Robert Ernlund, Anders Wikstrom, Jamie Borger, Nalle Pahlsson and Patrick Appelgren has done a mighty fine comeback album and this is what I call a worthy comeback album. Welcome back guys to the big league and hopefully we can see more albums from you. This is the strongest album from Treat and so far it’s the best one released this year. So don’t miss this awesome album when it’s released later this month. Buy, Buy, Buy, Buy and Buy. Coup de Grace

Did you know that?

Sex Pistols guitarist Steve Jones is playing the bass on most tracks on Never mind the bullocks and not Sid Vicious.
