Review

Very unexpected delivers Von Hertzen Brothers maybe the best album released so far in 2015. The band that consists of Jonne, Kie and Mikko von Hertzen has delivered for record four albums before this, but none that made any impression on me. New Day Rising, however, is a masterful album with its alternative rock filled with big and pompous elements, but also amazing harmonies. The opening and title track sets the level directly with its amazing chorus and super cool choirs.

What I like about New Day Rising is their blend of alternative rock ala Foo Fihters, but also progressive rock, which makes it quite unique. "Trouble" is a good example of that, as well as the energetic "You Don't Know My Name" where VHB delivers contemporary progressive rock of the highest quality. Must also mention "Hold Me Up" with its more pop-oriented appearance that could give them a radio hit with some luck.
Worth to mention is that they have worked with none else than GGGarth (Biffy Clyro, Trapt, Chevelle) and Randy Staub (Nickelback, Metallica, Our Lady Peace), which of cause gave them a perfect sound.
A big surprise as I said, and an album not to be missed in 2015!
