Slayer has postponed its U.K. and European tour until spring 2010. Instead, Slayer will co-headline the "American Carnage" tour with Megadeth early next year. Kicking off on January 18 in Seattle, Wash. for a 26-date trek across North America, the "Carnage" tour will include the six Canadian dates postponed earlier this month. Testament will be billed as special guests for the entire tour. "American Carnage" is the first time that Slayer and Megadeth will have toured the U.S. together since 1991's "Clash of the Titans" tour, and will sell a portion of the tour tickets at the "1991 price" of $10.00. Tickets for most shows go on sale this Friday, Nov. 20. The band announced the European and U.K. tour cancellation with "immense disappointment" in a statement, blaming a back injury sustained by vocalist/bassist Tom Araya that has required specialist treatment. "Right now, our main concern must be the full and permanent recovery of Tom, so we have decided to clear the calendar and give him the extra time he needs to concentrate solely on good health," said manager Rick Sales. The tour was due to begin in the U.K. on Nov. 18 and conclude on Dec. 17 in Germany. It has now been rescheduled to kick off on March 7 in Manchester, England.

To help with his medical expenses, the Deftones will play two benefit concerts at The Avalon in Vine St, Los Angeles on this Thursday and Friday, November 19 and 20. The Chi Ling Cheng Special Needs Trust has been set up to take in funds and pay for Cheng's expenses. As well as the Deftones benefit shows, Blink 182's Mark Hoppus is also contributing by offering his services for one day in the studio. Hoppus is up for auction. The highest bidder will get to spend a day in the studio with the Blink 182 frontman and he will produce a song for you. Pete Wentz blames himself for the demise of Fall Out Boy - because his personal life became a "hindrance" for the band. The rockers have decided to shelve the group indefinitely to allow them all more time to concentrate on their own projects. Wentz is convinced his high profile relationship with wife Ashlee Simpson-Wentz, which propelled the rocker into the gossip columns, had a negative impact on their music and he wanted to take a step back to stop his celebrity persona from overshadowing the band. He tells British magazine Kerrang!,
"My biggest personal reason for taking a break is that I feel my name has become a hindrance for the band. (Frontman Patrick Stump) is a musical genius and it's unfortunate that he gets reviewed based on whatever's going on in my personal life or how my hair looks. I think the world needs a little less Pete Wentz. A lot of people think Fall Out Boy is me. But it's the four of us. I want to f**king vomit when I read intros that say, 'Pete Wentz: accidental internet poster boy.' It makes me feel ugly."
And the bassist is sick of seeing his face on the cover of magazines, because he is now better known as a tabloid celebrity than as a musician. He adds, "People who read the tabloids probably think all I do is visit Starbucks and hang out in nightclubs."

STONE TEMPLE PILOTS have postponed their previously announced December and January tour dates until next year so they can complete work on they highly anticipated new album. The CD is being helmed by famed producer Don Was, who has previously worked with THE ROLLING STONES, IGGY POP and POISON, among many others.
STONE TEMPLE PILOTS' plan to release the record has been complicated by a legal dispute between STP's label, Atlantic Records, singer Scott Weiland and drummer Eric Kretz. Reports have indicated that Weiland and Kretz consider themselves free agents and are looking for a new deal, while the label claims they are bound to their original contract. The new album will be the first from the band since 2001's "Shangri-La-Dee-Da". During STP's hiatus, guitarist Dean DeLeo told The Pulse of Radio that he and his brother, bassist Robert DeLeo, kept their songwriting chops up by working with artists ranging from PINK to PETER FRAMPTON.
"We've been on a lot of writing sessions over the years and you know what? It's kind of cool, man, 'cause you go from writing with PINK to, like, PETER FRAMPTON and that's a wide array of music, you know," he said. "And it's kind of cool. You get to really cover a lot of terrain, man."
STONE TEMPLE PILOTS were reactivated in 2008 after a six-year hiatus, during which Scott Weiland recorded two albums with VELVET REVOLVER. He also issued his second solo record, "Happy In Galoshes", late last year, after STP completed its six-month comeback tour. The DeLeos recorded one album with ARMY OF ANYONE, a project they started with FILTER frontman Richard Patrick.
