With that in mind, if there are any question you want me to put to Robbo, please forward them to me at the following address roddycleere@gmail.com No title on the album as yet but having heard songs from it - originals 'Passion','the possible first single 'Diamonds and Dirt', 'Texas Wind' and a brilliant blusey version of 'Running Back' plus a real ballsy version of 'It's Only Money'. I can promise you, you will not be disappointed. The album will have its first broadcast on my radio show in August. It was in a vegas paper, and also on a board where they have the dates of new albums being releases. To whoever said Perry last album with Journey was missing something! Go back and listen to trial by fire and you will find this a very emotional,beautiful,album. everything on this album is written from the soul of perry and written about love and loss within his 8 year absents from journey. When you love a woman is breathtaking. Perry,Caine,and Neal did a fantastic job on the album. I lost my sister/my friend to cancer, she suffered a very slow and painful death and there wasn't anything I could do to make her better, we buried her on her 31st birthday. Two months later I lost my Aunt who was more like a sister, we were almost the same age, her untimely death was due to drug and alcohol abuse. The three of us were very close and had many misadventures. Steve you were right there in the middle in song. We of course all had a serious crush on you, I still do. We sang all of your songs together our favorite to sing as a trio was "Lights." We sang it accapella in the stairwell of my garage apartment because the acoustics were perfect. Thank you for being a part of some very precious memories. I'm just now at the point where I can here your voice without breaking down. For a long while I avoided you, but now especially since I'm clean and sober I can truly appreciate your work as if each song is a masterpiece painting in my personal gallery in my heart. In a March interview of this year Steve Perry said he is happy with the new songs he has written and people are telling him hes ready to go and hes sounding great. He said himself while he sings he feels sad at times because he sounds like the perry with journey and it pains him with memories. While that was a couple years ago, someone reassure me that it was just because he had gone hoarse from either cheering or an upper respiratory infection-because in that video (shot by someone who wanted to mock him-which made me furious), he was hoarse, off key, and truly sounded like only a shadow of himself. Anyone have any information on whether he has been heard, or recorded, singing since that World Series event? The thought of 'the Voice' being gone is heartbreaking! He's smart not to go out there and embarrass himself live. But hey, "Don't Stop Believin'" found a resurgence, so the royalties he's getting are astronomical. Why work? At 60, I don't see a new album at this point. He's been out of Journey for 11 years now. Nothing in the interim aside from some studio backup work and one song ("I stand alone"). C'mon. But his legacy from '78-86 is undeniable! I pulled off the road and turned the radio up because I just had to focus on this amazing voice (I was a vocal student for 13 years so I know a good voice when I hear one). My question then and now still is: why did he sing in a band and not do just solo material? I think Steve has such an amazing voice he should have been a solo act - not that I didn't LOVE Journey - but he needed to do his own thing creatively. Jon Cain was amazing too but Steve's voice stands on its own. A huge point not to be missed though is what a talented songwriter he is. He was the main songwriter for Journey for the large majority of their songs with his name listed first in the credits. A notable exception is Jonathan Cain's 'Faithfully.' Neil Schon and Cain's talent should not be diminished as they no doubt were an important part of the magic that produced so many great songs. 'Raised On Radio,' which Steve produced, is just further proof of his talent. 'Trial By Fire,' the last Journey album Steve did with Journey, lacks some of the old magic however. Subsequent Journey albums, 'Arrival' and 'Revelation' without Perry do not match up to their previous work either. I do not know the songs on these last three very well as there is no "pull" to go back and listen to them over and over as I still do with their first six albums, starting with 'Infinity.' To me the songwriting is really what determines if I am going to enjoy it over and over. So when we get that OFFICIAL update from the band, it will take more than half a year to get it out there. But then again, i could be wrong. There was a certain magic then, maybe it was the times, maybe just that night, when that magic had ripened to its peak. I always knew as a 16 year old he was much more than the stick twiddling he wowed the crowds with. When I just checked the net a few months ago I sat in shock at what I had just read. 40 years was not enough to erase a friendship and I miss him. Reading the tributes of those who knew him longer I knew he had not changed from the young lad who I walked the streets of Paris late at night after gigs. We played at Club Pierre Charron where Edith Piaf made her debut. I still have a poster of the band and it is so sad he has passed on.
