Have you been living under stress the last couple of days and feeling quite tired after a long hard working week?!,and above that the last thing you want to put in your CD player is one of those uptempo rockers for an album that you have lying in front of you. Well,to get back in the right mood you just have to sit down and feel comfortable with this talented lady Charlotte Martin in your speaker system, her new EP "In parantheses" is like massage for your weak body! Pianobased laid back moody music like a sister to Kate Bush or Tori Amos,Charlotte only need the first 2 songs "Your armor" and "In parantheses" to make you feel relaxed and full of energy to get back into the daily routines with dinner, laundry and stuff like that. 3rd track "Pretty things" wakes you up like a good cup of coffee early in the morning and you?re back in your normal standards,it?s a more uptempo track but still very cool and almost like a mix between Vanessa Carlton and No Doubt. The 4th and last track is "Monster" takes more than 2 to 3 times to get into,I kinda like the ending more than the opening on this EP and that?s odd because it?s usually the other way around. Martin recently sang the song "Bring On the Day" for the SWEET HOME ALABAMA soundtrack and is working on her full-length debut, last year she released the 8 track EP "Test drive songs" that is available through cdbaby.com but you can order this new EP at amazon.com,it?s also available for download via the I Tunes store. Musicians featured are:Charlotte Martin (vocals, piano, Fender Rhodes piano, synthesizer, programming); Jeff Garber (guitar, synthesizer, bass); Justin Meldal-Johnsen (upright bass); Joey Waronker, Tim Dow (drums); Ken Andrews (programming). A cool fact also is that Melodic.net?s new hero Ken Andrews from YEAR OF THE RABBIT has co-produced it too.
