Reviewed by: Juha Harjula Add to MySpace Add to Facebook Kaura (pronounced kay-aura) is a new interesting modern rock band that has released their self-titled 5-song E.P. Malcolm Guess(vocals) and Benjamin Jones(Drums) are the two that has created the sound of Kaura. They play aggressive power of hard, yet melodic modern rock in the veins of 3 Doors Down. The 5 songs on this E.P are sounding great with great variation and the arrangements are brilliant. If youre a fan of guitar driven modern rock then Kaura is definitely something for you because their is lots of wonderful guitarriffs all over this E.P. They have received a helping hand from Paz Lenchantin(A Perfect Circle, Zwan) who played violin on the song Dividing Lines. This is a brilliant modern rock tune with tough riffs with wonderful melodies. Justifying The Means is a heavy and hard but when the chorus comes they change the sound to a brilliant song with catchy hooklines and with strong melodies. The opening track The Falling is the highlight of the album and this is a superb modern rock song in the best 3 Doors Down style. The guitars are again very dominate, awesome guitarriffs. Well, this was a pleasant surprise for me and Im really looking forward to hear their full-lenght album that hopefully will see the light of day in the near future. So if youre not tired of bands that sounds like 3 Doors Down then I suggest you check out this new promising act Kaura. This is my kind of modern rock and I love this stuff.
