Jetliner is one of the most exciting new bands to walk the face of the earth on this side of the century,their stunning debut took me to new dimensions when it comes to melodic pop/rock.
And now they?re back with their second masterpiece called "Space station", you just taste that title in your mouth and visit at their website with a design that reminds a bit of E.L.O?s "Out of the blue" and simply.....you don?t need to hear the music coz you already know what magnificent and majestic music it will contain!
To my surprise,Jetliner is rocking harder and more on the new album compared to the pop-ish debut.
Nothing bad about that,I like guitars and lots of harmony vocals which Jetliner really delivers big time........but let me just say it this way - Space Station has a few pearls that truly are better as songs than the best ones on the first album but as a whole album I prefer the debut.
I think the Queen sounding "The reaction" reminds just too much of "Tie your mother down",the pianobased "Keep?n on" has some more vibes a la the debut but not with the same classy chorus and the rocker "Steamroller" sure is a perfect song for the stage but it doesn?t belong on a studio album.
"Gimme your love" takes the listener back to the heydays of The Sweet and the cover of David Bowie?s "Life on Mars" is nothing but excellent.
The new single "Space station" rocks just as good as any Mott the Hoople classic,the intro and the opening track "Lush" sounds like an old classic 70?s hit but it?s new and it?s composed by this extraordinary band.
"Almost" echoes out Queen all the way up to heaven where Freddie Mercury probably is smiling when he hears it but the best song of the album is "Let me down".....now we?re talking pure pompy classic rock just the way the doctor ordered.
