Last year I did a review of Colspell's 6-track album that I got for a review and I thought it was a promising one. Now this exciting band based in the northern parts of Sweden is here with their debut full-length album that contains 12 melodic songs.
Formed by guitarist and songwriter Michael Larsson that released two albums with R.A.W in the 90s with members from Dalton and Kicken (The Poodles) on drums.

What Coldspell has to offer is melodic hardrock with both some 70s groove mixed with 80s hooklines and blended with an up-dated production.
I must say that the variation of the songs on this album is just brilliant and the production is crystal clear. Another thing that lifts up this album is the singer Niclas Swedentrop that reminds of Jorn Lande and this is a new Swedish vocal sensation, yes he really shines out on this album.
So if bands like Jorn, Eclipse, Aces High (their debut) and todays Europe are your cup of tea then Infinite Stargaze is an album you can’t miss.

Just check out the great melodic Eye Of The Storm that is a song that should make Jorn Lande full of envy. The riffantastic Straight Things Out rocks great and it reminds of Aces High’s debut.
All the songs from the CD I reviewed are included. Night Falls is a fantastic AORish mid-tempo song with a strong chorus. Fade Away is great straight in your face rocker with heavy riffs that takes you on a ride in the same lane as Europe, the chorus rocks big time.

Many of the riffs on this album made me think of Mike Slamer and his work and it would not surprise me if Michael Larsson has listened to him. They save the best for last and Infinite Stargaze is a pure magic. This song is filled with wonderful melodies and the chorus is awesome with great hooklines. So if you want your hardrock done with class then check out Coldspells debut because it’s filled with it. Great album guys and keep up the great work.
