Many people thought they would never see the day when Creed reunited. After the abrupt ending of the band and the formation of alter Bridge, it did not look likely. Like someone once said, time heals all wounds. Creed is back weather you like it or not. Sounding as strong as they were when they first came out and even heavier than before. Tremonti and the gang are used the heaver rock from Alter Bridge and bring the rock full on this new album "Full Circle." Not really sure what went down with Stapp and Marshall but it looks as if that is behind them and they are ready to rekindle their friendships and take control of the rock scene again. Creed's slower material and mainly the music and the guitar tones from Tremonti were a [positive the band always had. I was hoping to hear much of that on the new record (you know the beginning tones on "My Own Sacrifice'', "Higher", "What's This Life For?" and also Alter Bridge’s "Broken Wings").
This time though, I think the band just wants to turn up the gain and rock. The album opens strong and heavy with the first single "Overcome." I would say one of the best Creed songs since the debut. this song has the fury and power, Tremonti taking back his reign of nasty guitar power and Stapp pushing his raspy vocals to the max. The chorus is huge and is a great lead off single for the reunited band. "Bread of Shame" is an OK rocker, reminds me of one of the tunes from Weathered, Rocks hard but not too much remembered from this one. "A Thousand Faced" starts of with the acoustic and kicks into a great melodic and powerful chorus. “Rain” is a great slower pop song with its main acoustic guitars that blast into a very mainstream chorus... One of the best songs on this album as well in their catalog to date. Still no sign of those classic chorused out delayed guitar tones. There is many acoustic based songs that will kick into a power house chorus like "Away In Silence." This song could be a next single. "On My Sleeve" and "Full Circle" are average Creed sounding songs, album fillers in my opinion. "Time" goes back to the acoustic starting and has a nice solid chorus.
Overall the album starts off good, I expected alot more from a reunited Creed. I thought there would be more radio hits on this one and more of that Creed signature sound. Its a lot heavier than expected, so i'm not sure of those single-loving fans are goign to be really into this one. Although there a bulk of the moderate tempo songs, the majority is heavier like an Alter Bridge album. Its obvious that the band wants to rock harder and sho that they have balls and that they do. Tremonti leaves us wanting some more of those crazy leads and lesss of the nu-metal guitar riffs. As said in an interview from Scott Phillips, look for more Creed music in the future as i'm sure they will keep their ground on modern rock radio.
