I have not heard a lot from Ernie Halter before, so that makes it kind of hard to review a live album. Anyways, I will give it a try. Here goes. I usually have a hard time with live albums. Sometimes you find out that the singer that sounded so nice on the album really does not sound good at all live. This is not a problem with Ernie Halter and his live album. This is a nice little album. Even though it is mostly acoustic music, it is very funky. Ernie has a voice that is not too far from Marc Broussard. Just listen to the forth song, "Whisper". Close your eyes and it could easily be Mr Broussard singing.Very soulful in other words. The sound of the live album is very good, but without losing the live feeling, which is a very good thing. Most of the songs on here are very pleasant to listen. Favorite tracks are said "Whisper" and "Love in LA", both beautiful songs with strong vocals. In this genre you really have to have a voice that stands out from the rest if you want to make a lasting impression. Ernie Halter most certainly have such a voice. It is a voice that I really want to hear more from. He is also a good live artist, and even though there are some small segments of talking between the songs it never the kind of talk that becomes boring and steal attention from the songs. The album starts pretty funny with the crowd shouting, and Ernie saying: "I think that's a nice way of saying 'don't tell jokes, stick to the music". This is pretty funny and a nice way to entertain the crowd while still focusing on what he does best, the music. I may not have known very much about Ernie Halter when I first got this album, but after listening to it, I sure will look into him more. Nice live album!
